BIPOLAR & MOOD CARE
Bipolar and mood disorder treatment in Redlands and across California
Care with Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC — a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
When your mood has a mind of its own—soaring one stretch, crashing the next—it can feel like you're living several different lives, and none of them quite fit. Maybe you've been treated for depression for years and something still doesn't add up. Maybe the highs felt incredibly good, until they didn't.
Mood conditions like bipolar disorder are highly treatable—but only when the diagnosis is right, and getting it right takes time, a careful clinical eye, and a willingness to look at the whole picture.

Too many people spend years exhausted, working hard on a treatment plan built for the wrong problem.
Here in the Inland Empire—in person at our Redlands psychiatric office, or by secure telepsychiatry anywhere in California—we take the time to understand the full shape of your moods, not just the low points, and build a personalized treatment plan that finally fits.
Symptoms & patterns
Is this what you're experiencing?
Bipolar and complex mood conditions rarely show up as one steady feeling. More often, it's a pattern over time. Does any of this sound familiar?
- The Two Extremes
- Stretches where you feel unstoppable—wired, fast, barely needing sleep—followed by crashes where just getting out of bed feels impossible.
- Depression That Won't Stay Fixed
- You've been treated for depression, maybe more than once, and the medication helps for a little while, or not at all.
- The Racing Engine
- Periods where your thoughts and plans move faster than you can keep up with—and your words or your spending struggle to keep pace too.
- Decisions You Later Question
- Choices made on a high—involving money, relationships, or big risks—that don't look the same once the mood passes.
- The Shortening Fuse
- Irritability and restlessness that flare out of proportion, straining the people closest to you.
- Whiplash
- Moods that shift faster or harder than the situation calls for, leaving you and everyone around you constantly off balance.
If several of these feel familiar—especially that pattern of highs and lows—it's worth a careful psychiatric evaluation. Bipolar and related mood disorders are frequently mistaken for ordinary depression, and getting the clinical picture right changes everything about what actually helps.

Getting started
How care works
The right treatment plan starts with the right picture, and we take the time to get it. Every path begins the exact same way: a real, human conversation.
-
Start with a free call
Start with a free 15-minute call. No pressure, no commitment—just a chance to tell me what's going on and hear whether this psychiatry practice is the right fit.
-
A thorough first visit
In our Redlands clinic or by secure video anywhere in California, we take our time. We take a careful clinical history that looks at the highs as well as the lows, ruling out other things that can mimic or hide a mood disorder. You leave with a clear picture and a concrete, actionable treatment plan.
-
Ongoing care that adjusts to you
Mood conditions change over time, and your care should too. If psychiatric medication (like a mood stabilizer) is part of the plan, we choose it carefully, explain it fully, and fine-tune it based on exactly how you respond. We check in, provide ongoing medication management, and keep working together until your moods feel like yours again.

Common questions
Questions patients ask
Are you a psychiatrist?
No—and it's a fair thing to ask. Your care here is provided by Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an MD or DO). A PMHNP is an advanced-practice provider who specializes in mental health—trained and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe and manage psychiatric medications. Different training, same goal: careful, thorough psychiatric care.
I've been treated for depression before—could it actually be bipolar disorder?
It's much more common than people realize. Bipolar and related mood conditions are often first diagnosed as depression, especially because the higher-energy periods (hypomania or mania) often feel productive rather than like a problem. A careful psychiatric evaluation looks at the whole pattern over time, not just the low points.
Do you accept IEHP or Medi-Cal?
Yes—we actively accept both IEHP and Medi-Cal for patients in the Inland Empire and across California. If you are a self-pay patient, care is a straightforward $175 for the initial psychiatric evaluation and $75 for follow-up appointments.
How fast can I be seen?
Most new patients are scheduled and seen within the same week, either in person at our Redlands office or by secure video appointment anywhere in California.
Can this care be done by video (telehealth)?
Yes—for most people, psychiatric evaluations and ongoing care work incredibly well via telepsychiatry across California. A few medications carry specific rules about how they can be prescribed by video, and we'll walk you through anything that applies to your specific treatment plan.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is needed to get started. You can begin with a free 15-minute call, or request a callback and our office will reach out directly.
