CHILD & TEEN CARE

Child and adolescent psychiatry in Redlands and across California (ages 5 and up)

Care with Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC — a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

When you're worried about your child, the not-knowing is its own kind of exhausting. Is this just a phase, or something more? Are you overreacting, or missing something?

You don't have to sort that out alone.

Leave a message — a team member calls back within the hour, or request a callback.

If you are in crisis right now, please don't wait for a callback. Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (free, 24/7), text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line, or go to your nearest emergency room. If someone's life is in immediate danger, call 911.

Children and teens aren't just "adults, smaller." They show emotional distress differently—in their behavior, their bodies, their grades, the way they pull away—and reading those signals well takes a clinician who specializes in pediatric mental health.

Here in the Inland Empire—in person at our Redlands psychiatric office, or by secure telepsychiatry anywhere in California—we take the time to understand what your child is actually going through. We keep you involved as the parent every step of the way, and build a treatment plan that fits your family.

Symptoms & warning signs

Is this what you're seeing in your child?

Kids rarely say, "I'm anxious" or "I'm experiencing depression." It usually shows up as a behavioral change you can see. Does any of this sound familiar?

The Shift
The kid you know has changed—more withdrawn, angrier, or quieter than usual—and it's lasted much longer than a rough week.
School Falling Apart
Grades, focus, or motivation have dropped off, and getting through the school day has become a daily battle.
Big Feelings, No Off-Switch
Meltdowns, worry, or mood swings that feel far bigger than the situation—and harder and harder to soothe.
Pulling Away
Friends, activities, and family time that used to matter have quietly fallen off the map.
The Physical Clues
Frequent stomachaches or headaches with no obvious medical cause, or sleep that's all over the place.
Walking on Eggshells
Home has started to organize itself around your child's moods, and everyone in the house feels the tension.

If several of these feel familiar, an honest pediatric psychiatric evaluation is worth it—not to slap a label on your child, but to understand what's actually driving the behavior. Plenty of mental health conditions look alike at this age, and part of excellent clinical care is telling them apart.

(Note: If you are ever worried about your child's immediate physical safety, please do not wait—use the emergency crisis resources at the bottom of this page.)

Getting started

How our child and teen psychiatric care works

Getting a child seen shouldn't mean navigating a clinical maze while you're already worried. We've kept our process simple. Every path starts the exact same way: a real, human conversation.

  1. Start with a free call

Start with a free 15-minute call. No pressure, no commitment—just a chance to tell me what's going on with your child and hear whether this practice is the right fit.

  2. A thorough first visit, with you involved

Whether we meet in our Redlands clinic or by secure video, we take our time. We take a careful developmental history, get a real understanding of what your child is experiencing, and rule out things that can look like one problem but actually be another. You leave with a clear picture and a concrete treatment plan.

  3. Ongoing care that fits your family

If child or teen psychiatric medication is ever part of the plan, we start thoughtfully, explain everything to you, and adjust based on how your child responds—with you informed at every step. We check in, adjust, and keep working together until things are steadier.

Common questions

Questions parents ask

Are you a psychiatrist?

No—and it's a fair thing to ask. Your care here is provided by Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an MD or DO). A PMHNP is an advanced-practice provider who specializes in mental health—trained and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe and manage psychiatric medications. Different training, same goal: careful, thorough psychiatric care.

What ages do you see?

We provide psychiatric care for children and teens from age 5 through 17, and care can continue smoothly into adulthood if it's needed.

Do you accept IEHP or Medi-Cal?

Yes—we actively accept both IEHP and Medi-Cal for families in the Inland Empire and across California. If you are a self-pay patient, care is a straightforward $175 for the initial evaluation and $75 for follow-up appointments.

How fast can my child be seen?

Most new patients are scheduled and seen within the same week, either in person at our Redlands office or by secure video anywhere in California.

Can my child be seen by video (telehealth)?

Yes—much of pediatric psychiatric care works incredibly well by telepsychiatry across California. Some situations are better handled in person, and certain medications carry specific rules about how they can be prescribed by video. We'll walk you through exactly what fits your child's needs.

Will I be involved in my child’s care?

Yes—you're part of the process from the very first call. We keep you informed and work with you on decisions, always in a way that's legally appropriate and right for your child's age and developmental stage.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed to get started. You can begin with a free 15-minute call, or request a callback and our office will reach out directly.
